Online shopping is evolving more every day and moving to using apps like iBotta to shop. People are ordering online more by their phone as opposed to the “old school” desktop/laptop way. Don’t get me wrong, I still use my laptop for online shopping, but I find myself using apps like iBotta on my phone more for convenience.

I am not talking about apps like iBotta to go grocery shopping, I am talking about online shopping for clothing, locals deals, electronics, traveling, and so much more. Although iBotta was once known as a Grocery shopping cash back app, it is now an app to get cash back from major retailers such as Amazon, eBay, Groupon, Target, Home Away, and more.
The three apps listed below are all free to download through the Apple or Google Play store, depending on what type of smart phone you have. There are incentives for each one once you sign up and start using it. Perfect way to get paid for your day to day purchases. The extra step is so easy, especially when earning all the rewards.
See details below for each of the apps like iBotta, including iBotta:

I would say iBotta is my go to number one favorite app right now for cash back with online shopping. They now have a specific category on their app called “Mobile Shopping” making it easy to search for major retailers who will give you cash back for your purchases. Shop through iBotta for major retailers like Target, Priceline, Petsmart, HomeAway, Express, LivingSocial, Stitch Fix, Gamestop, and Charlotte Russe just to name a few.
Make sure you start with the iBotta app first and then select your retailer. From there you will be redirected to that retailer’s app. Do not break this link so you will get credit for participating purchases. Usually it will take some time to process, depending on the offer or retailer. It will specify within each one the details for how long the waiting process to get paid is. Once it’s processed, payment with iBotta is quick as long as you reach the $20 threshold. From there you can choose to get cash from PayPal or one of their many gift cards.

My new 2nd go to of the apps like iBotta. If you have every used MyPoints, this is another just like it. Basically in addition to using their app to get cash back, you can also earn cash back when taking surveys, searching, watching videos, playing games, and more. Since I’ve started to transition away from MyPoints, I’ve found Swagbucks to take it’s place.
Instead of measuring earnings in points or actual money value, they measure in “SB” (SwagBucks). So here’s how they break it down on their site: 100 SB=$1.00. So for example, if you go to redeem your SB on their rewards page, a $25 PayPal credit is 2,500 SB. What’s even cooler is they have a “Sale” section on their rewards page. This offers their rewards at 20%, some even 75% off like the magazines. For example, right now they are offering a $25 Bass Pro Shop gift card only 1,760 SB. This is just one example of the many.

The 3rd app I’d recommend for apps like iBotta is Ebates. It’s all about the online shopping with major retailers. Ebates has over 2,000 stores you can shop through and earn up to 40% cash back. Some stores include Sephora, Expedia, Under Armour, Michael Kors, Cabela’s, Macy’s, and Groupon just to name a few.
The only downside compared to iBotta is instead of getting payment or gift cards when you reach the threshold, you have to wait every three months with Ebates’ payment schedule. On the upside, their threshold to receive payment is lower. Once you pass the $5 Cash Back Balance, on their pay period schedule, you can get that cash back in check or Paypal format.
Keep in mind with some of these apps like iBotta there are some restrictions on cash back. For example there may be some categories the retailer may exclude or specific items. No matter what, it does not hurt to go through one of these apps when using your phone for online shopping. I go through iBotta every time now when I order anything on Amazon, eBay, or Target. I don’t worry about exclusions, I just order and if it gives me cash back, awesome, if not, whatever.
Tips for Using Apps like iBotta:
Sign up for their newsletters and follow them on social media. This is a great way to stay up to date with any specials they have going like extra cash back options. These apps want you to be successful with them so they do a wonderful job in spreading the word so you are up-to-date.
Use a few (or all of the above) to get the most out of all the major retailers you do your online shopping with. The apps like iBotta listed above are my favorite apps that I’ve grown to love. They are very similar in many ways, but they are also different too and offer different perks.
Don’t forget, whether you decide to go with iBotta, Ebates, or Swagbucks, go through them every time you shop from your phone. They’ll redirect you to the retailer and ordering is normal as if you were not using a cash back app (except of course you will not be getting paid). Always check on all 3 of these apps for the retailer you plan to order from.
